With only two games left to play in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League, the golden boot race is likely to go to the wire with only a goal separating both Gor Mahia’s Benson Omala and Kenya Police FC’s Elvis Rupia. Omala has been the clear favourite this season to scoop the coveted title but Rupia’s recent brace in a 3-1 win against familiar foes Posta Rangers on Sunday ensured his tally hit 24 goals with two remaining fixtures.

Nzoia Sugar striker Joseph Mwangi is in a distant third with 14 goals and is more than ten goals behind the leading scorer leaving only Omala and Rupia to battle it out for the coveted prize.

Ahead of the remaining fixtures K’Ogalo have a date with Kakamega Homeboyz and Nairobi City Stars, While Rupia’s Kenya Police on the other hand has a date with Vihiga Bullets and KCB FC respectively. In the same breath, the race for the 2022-23 FKF-PL Premier League title is going down to the wire, with K’Ogalo looking poised for a record-extending league title to number 20.

K’Ogalo moved two points clear on top of the standings on Sunday after beating Ulinzi Stars 2-0 at the Kasarani Stadium.

Relegation-threatened Wazito FC beat title-chasing contenders Tusker FC 2-1 to spoil the party for the Brewers heading to the final two games of the league.

Kakamega Homeboyz take on Gor Mahia in their next match in Nairobi while their final match of the season will be against Nairobi City Stars.

The brewers’ next match will be at home against Posta Rangers while the last match of the season will be away to already relegated Vihiga Bullets in Mumias.

The league takes a break until June 21, 2023, with both Tusker and Gor Mahia taking a well-needed break before resuming to see who wins this season’s title.
