Gor Mahia coach Steven Pollack unhappy with K’Ogalo exits
Gor Mahia coach Steven Pollack is unhappy with the departure of high profile players from the club and wants the team to learn to retain their best.
Even before the transfer window was opened, K’Ogalo had already seen four players leave mostly beacuse of financial challenges.
Key men in the squad like wingers Boniface Odhiambo and Dickson Ambundo, goalkeepers Fredrick Odhiambo and Daniel Mapigano and Ghanaian midfielder Jackson Owusu are already out.
Captain Kenneth Muguna is being monitored by Angolan giants Petro Atletico, while deputy skipper Joash Onyango is nearing a deal with Tanzanian champions Simba SC.
Polack has now come out to express dissatisfaction with the exits even as he wished the departing players the best in their new ventures.
“Every top club will always want to hold on to their best because continuity is everything.
I can understand the situation with the club at the moment especially when nobody is playing but still it hurts to lose quality players.
It is frustrating but nevertheless I want to wish the players who have left all the best,” said Pollack.
“It is now a chance for fringe players to show what they got and of course we want to acquire new talent before the season resumes.
This is a big club with ambition so we must strive to remain at that level. I believe the management has a plan of action so let us remain patient, “said the Englishman now in his second season in charge of the league champions.
Gor Mahia have already signed former Nairobi City Stars custodian Levis Opiyo and are said to be close to bringing in Western Stima duo Sydney Ochieng’ and Benson Omalla.
In June, the 18-time KPL champions signed a shirt sponsorship deal with BetSafe, a European gaming company, worth Sh55 million a year.
