Gor Mahia fought back to register a 3-1 win over Murang'a Seal in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at St Sebastian Park on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

K'Ogalo are now 12 points ahead of the second-placed opponent with six games remaining in the season, and Benson Omala shone by registering a brace.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia went ahead when Austin Odhiambo scored in the 12th minute when the home side was exposed at the back.

Seal did not sit back after conceding the opener, as they kept fighting and came close to getting an equaliser only to be denied by Gor Mahia's goalkeeper, Caleb Omondi, who parried away efforts by Ally Yusuf and Titus Kapchanga.

John Kiplagat finally got the back of the net when he scored an equaliser for the home side just before the half-time break.

Gor Mahia's head coach, Johnathan McKinstry, made a change late in the first half when he brought on Lawrence Juma in place of Enock Wanyama, who was injured.

A chance for Gor Mahia to restore their lead came in the 56th minute, but this time around, Odhiambo was unlucky as his close-range effort flew slightly wide.

After missing a number of chances, Gor Mahia finally restored their lead when Omala successfully converted a 75th-minute penalty.

The Premier League top scorer added a third goal for the defending champions after a swiftly, cleverly launched counter-attack that down the home side that was otherwise fighting hard not to get out of the pitch empty-handed.

The former Kisumu Day star has now scored 14 goals, which is two more than his closest Golden Boot rival.
