Gor Mahia dumped out of CAF Confederation Cup

Visitors AS Otoho dumped Gor Mahia out of the CAF Con- federation Cup at the Nyayo National Stadium after a 3-2 aggregate win yesterday.

Danger man Roland Okouri started the proceedings in the sixth minute for AS Otoho following a rebound after a free- kick. Barely a minute after the restart, a quick attack by Gor Mahia found the defence flat-footed with John Macharia arriving at the right time to hit home, a rebound to send the crowd to raptures.

K’Ogalo Coach Mark Harri- son expressed disappointment with the team’s approach.

“This is not the result we came for at home with fans at our back. We had opportunities but we failed to capitalise so here we are. Our approach of long balls was not effective and since we had conceded early meant we had to fight to get three goals to beat the opponents which was difficult. I am disappointed just like the fans but now we focus on the league,” said the gutted Briton after the match.

The first half was fairly tactical especially from the visitors as they neutralized KOgalo’s midfield entirely with Alpha Onyango and Earnest Wendo making forced errors on the ball due to pressure from the Otoho pressing players.

It was only John Macharia and Samuel Onyango who were trying to create spaces as Jules Ulimwengu and Benson Omalla were often found in no man’s land.

Gor Mahia also were exposed down the defensive flanks, with Philemon Otieno and Fred Nkata constantly outfoxed by danger man Richard Okouri.
