Gor Mahia registered their biggest win of the current Football Kenya Federation Premier League after beating Nairobi City Stars 4-1 at Kasarani on Sunday, September 17, 2023.

Benson Omala, who finished as the runners-up in the scorers' chart last season, scored twice; Rooney Onyango scored the third; and Austin Odhiambo struck the fourth.

Nairobi City Stars got the only goal of the match, which was scored by Dennis Oalo.

Outstanding Onyango

Onyango, who was later named the man of the match, was a standout performer for K'Ogalo, as he also claimed two assists after setting up Omala (for his second) and Odhiambo.

City Stars' goal came about due to Gor Mahia's failure to clear their box after their opponents had won a free-kick. Oalo took advantage of the goalmouth melee to find the net as they denied K'Ogalo a clean sheet.

Gor Mahia responded to the City Stars' goal with an emphatic desire to score more, and their efforts were rewarded when Odhiambo scored in the 71st minute.

Kariobangi Sharks down KCB

Elsewhere, Karibangi Sharks defeated KCB 2-1 in another league match at the Kasarani Annex.

Stanley Wilson, who recently earned his maiden national team call-up, struck in the 29th minute to give Kariobangi Sharks the lead.

The Sharks' lead lasted until the 42nd minute, when Francis Kahiro found the back of the net for KCB. The Eastlands side scored the winning goal in the 68th minute, courtesy of Geoffrey Onyango.

The loss is a big setback for the Bankers, who appointed Bernard Mwlala before the season began, hoping to turn them into a more competitive outfit.

Talanta outshine Murang'a Seal

At Ruaraka, Talanta FC were 1-0 winners against Premier League debutants Murang'a Seal.

Seal, who beat Shabana FC and Kakamega Homeboyz in their last two games, were at the top before the matchday three actions.

But a goal by Alex Juma brought their fine run in the top flight to an end.
