NAIROBI: After appearing to have flattered to deceive since winning the 2021 Kenyan Premier League, Tusker FC will be hoping to appease their fans yet again when they engage Kakamega Homeboyz in a mouth-watering clash at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega today.

Tusker, who are placed in an odd 12th position in the standings with ten points from seven matches, did the ‘inconceivable’ last weekend when they beat hosts Nzoia Sugar 1-0 in Bungoma.

The slim win revitalised the ale-men but be it as it may, they have their work cut out, literally, and considering that they are facing Homeboyz which is the only team amongst the sixteen which are participating in the top tier league that has yet to lose a match.

Tusker coach Robert Matano was content with their conquest of Nzoia at the sugar belt but nonetheless expressed concern by his charges’ failure to translate chances into goals against the run of play.

“A win is a win but I think that we should have conjured up at least a 3-0 win. Just like Nzoia, Homeboyz is also a good side and as such, we expect a very tough game in a tricky environment,” Matano said. -Charles Thuku
