After starting their campaign with a 1-0 win against FKF  Premier League newbies Kenya Police on Sunday, Kakamega Homeboyz tactician Benard Malala has lauded his team’s creativity that enabled them break a solid opponent’s backline.

In the match played at Bukhungu stadium, Kakamega were on fire right away from the onset creating many chances but remained wasteful until second half when Moses Mudavadi sped off and passed the ball to midfielder Stephen Opuko who tapped in right inside the box to ensure maximum points for home team.

Speaking after the match Mwalala who was elevated to head coach taking over from Nicholas Muyoti revealed his satisfaction with good pre-season preparations the team had.

“Kenyan premier league is getting tougher each and every season and this calls for proper preparations and depth in the playing unit.

I feel the team has started on a right footing and I just pray we maintain that spirit in our subsequent matches.

“We created many chances but we were a bit hasty inside the box which saw us not being clinical with these chances.

“We will work on finishing and fixing things early so that we can try to attain our objective of finishing the league strongly.

“We have assembled a strong and youthful side that will give a good account of themselves and assist us to compete with top teams.”
