Kariobangi Sharks goalkeeper Brian Bwire is a man under siege given his reported absence from training for weeks which might have cost him a place in the national team

Bwire who injured his shoulder in February last year played against Bandari FC almost five weeks ago and since then has not been between the sticks for the Slum Boys.

Bwire reportedly went underground,  but he has dismissed the allegations.

Word from the Sharks camp had it that Bwire was eyeing a move abroad and was reportedly in contact with former Kenyan international Arnold Origi who acts as Bwire’s agent.

“There has been so much noise and hearsay but I am still a Kariobangi Sharks player at least until December.

I want to respect that position as a professional because I have a contract with the club.

“I was injured and now I am back fighting to get back my position,”  he told People Sport in an exclusive interview even as news of his refusal to a contract extension emerged.

The Kenya Under-20 international has, however, also revealed that he had a bit of a fall-out with his bosses at the club following his dalliance with Origi.

The 20-year-old made his debut for Sharks in 2018 and has been a regular shot stopper for the Slum Boys.

“We have settled matters and assured them that I am still their player.

We just had a little disagreement because I felt at some point undervalued but we are all good.

“I understand that I have to work harder to gain the trust of my coaches and regain my place so it is what pushes me anyway.”
