World Marathon runners-up Judith  Jeptum is getting ready to compete at the Copenhagen Half Marathon slated for Sunday, 18 September.

In July, Jeptum won a silver medal at the World Athletics championships in Eugene for Kenya, with a personal best time of 2:18.20, she was outshined by Ethiopia’s Gotytom Gebreslase.

Jeptum who trains in Kapsait, Elgeyo Marakwet county in the same camp as World women’s marathon record holder Brigid Kosgei is focusing to compete in the Danish City race, she has embarked on her training and preparations for the event.

“My training is going on well. I’m not disappointed with what happened in Oregon, that is the nature of competition you win some or lose some but now I am focusing on my preparations towards the half marathon.” said the reigning Paris marathon champion.

Jeptum noted that it will be very competitive race since Copenhagen is flat course and a good place to break limits.

“ I’m confident that I will do my best and run as I have been instructed by my coach during the training session,” she said.

Jeptum has a personal best time in half marathon of 1:5.28 she got early this year during Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon.

She has been performing well in both local and international races.

Jeptum started running while in high school as a steeplechaser until 2019 when she joined marathon races.

“I started my running career while in high school, but I could not do well to go further, I joined marathoners camp in Kapsait after high school. I was tipped later to run in the Italian marathon, and that is when I got the motivation to continue running in different races,” said former Venice Marathon champion.

The 26 years old is motivated to run well so that she can help her parents and siblings.
