AFC Leopards captain Robinson Kamura has received the backing of team manager Tom Juma.

Kamura, who will miss out on their BetKing Premier League match against Vihiga United on Saturday due to suspension, has seen his form dip since the departure of ex-coach Anthony Kimani.

The former Mathare United star has endured a hard time in the last three matches and received a red card against City Stars  in the  last game with his commitment being questioned by a section of fans.

However, Juma has come out to absolve the skipper of any blame, terming him one of the committed stars having recently extended his stay at the club by penning a two-year contract.

Speaking to People Sport, Juma has termed Kamura as one of the key members to the club whose hard work and command has seen the revival of the club in recent times.

“In any sport, there are always downs and ups for each and every player and that is what our captain is currently going through.

I am happy he’s focused on the prize as he keeps working hard in training and we will see him back forcefully,” said Juma.

“I just want to urge him to focus on the future by working hard to maintain his position in the first eleven even though it’s hard to guarantee a starting position due to stiff competition.”

Kamura revealed that he has learned a lot from the new coach Patrick Aussem who has restored a winning mentality at the club.

“He is one coach who appreciates and works with every individual player trying to get the best out of them and this has endeared him to the team as well as fans who feel he is the right person for the club.”

With the introduction of Aussem as head coach and the acquisition of Tedian Esilaba from City Stars, Kamura has found his playing time reduced.
