Junior golfer Zandro sinks hole-in-one at kids contest

Junior golfer Zandro Obiero stunned all after sinking a hole-in-one on par-three -16th hole at the US Kids local tour at Limuru Country Club at the weekend. He also claimed top position at in the six-years and under after carding a round of 48.

Ivan Kipyegon was the runners-up with 49 points. In the 7-years category, Jeff Kibe and Mikhali Ladak shared top position, carding an impressive round of 61 points.

Under the 15-18-year category, Asa Dinkins emerged as the winner with Kevin Anyien taking runners up. 

They carded points of 83 and 85 respectively.

In the girls’ category, Ashley Gachora took the lead carding a round of an impressive 45 points, Zianna Khoda came in second with 52 points both in the eight-years and under. In the 13-14-years category, Maryam Mwakitawa claimed top position with 92 points followed by six-year-old Navya Nadga who carded 116 points.

The tournament is the first in the U.S Kids golf local tournament of four competitions in the country that is set to end at Muthaiga Golf Club in May 2022.

According to John Gachora, Group Managing Director, NCBA Group noted: “We were the first to bring US Golf Kids in the country and it is our hope that in less than 10 years, we will have golfers representing Kenya in the Olympics. When that happens, we will be able to look back and celebrate this huge milestone.
