Kakamega County to cater for Juma’s full funeral expense as Raila, other dignitaries to attend burial

 Kakamega County governor Wycliffe Oparanya yesterday announced that his government will settle funeral expenses for the burial of ardent football fan Isaac Juma who was killed last week.

Oparanya who was speaking at his Kakamega office yesterday where he met Juma’s two widows Christine Indimuli and Fridah Juma, who briefed him on the burial plans, also noted that the county will also clear school fees for Juma’s three children who are in Secondary School.

“We will support the family of Juma to settle all the funeral expenses and also clear school fees for his children,” said Oparanya told People Daily.

The family told the governor that the funeral committee had a budget of Sh1.5 million for Juma’s send off which will take place on February 12 at Ebuyenjere village in Mumias West constituency.

Juma was hacked to death by thugs who raided his home at around 9am on January 26, in what is believed to be a land dispute.

The assailants did not steal anything from the deceased or his home during the attack that left many in a shock.

Police have so far arrested one suspect in connection with the incident.

The governor noted that he knew Juma at a personal level for many years since his days as an official at AFC Leopards and lauded his love for the game both at club and national level.

“We want to give Juma a heroes welcome. He was really passionate with football and had a big following drawn from all over the country,” said Oparanya.

He regretted the death of the ‘Number One’ fan who was a staunch supporter of Harambee Star, AFC Leopards and Kakamega Homeboyz, calling on investigative agencies to fast track the search of his
