Kibwana who is set to undergo a medical test today before joining league champions Tusker, had a splendid month in July with the Kakamega-based outfit.

He was in sensational form that month, finding the back of the net eight times in six league matches, steering his team to five wins and a single loss during the period.

“I’m so excited with this award. It is the first award I’m winning in my entire football career, the closest I ever came to winning an award was finishing as a runner-up in the nominations,” Kibwana who is likely be wear the number 2 Jersey at Tusker next season, told People Sport.

He began the month with a brace against Ulinzi Stars. He then set up the other goal for Allan Wanga as Homeboyz downed the Soldiers 3-1 in Nakuru.

He followed it with another brace in the 4-2 win over Mathare United at the same venue.

In the following match that was equally in Nakuru, he scored one as Homeboyz downed Nzoia Sugar FC 2-1.

The soft spoken player experienced a two-match drought against Wazito FC and Sofapaka before returning to the score sheet in style with a treble in their 4-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks.

He beat two other contestants to bag the monthly award that comes with a Sh 50,000 price money and a personalized trophy courtesy of FKF Premier League.

Kariobangi Sharks’ Eric Kapaito who was equally in great form that month came in second after scoring six goals in six matches while KCB’s David Simiyu finished third.

He becomes the seventh winner of the award after Elvis Rupia, Henry Meja, William Wadri, Kelvin Opiyo, David Odhiambo, and Derrick Otanga.

Meanwhile, Muyoti won his fete after guiding a ruthless Homeboyz to five wins out of six games played in July as they picked 15 points from a possible 18.

The youthful tactician beat Ulinzi Stars boss Benjamin Nyangweso and Wazito coach Francis Kimanzi to the award which also comes with a cash prize of Sh 50,000.

In the meantime, the prestigious premier league awards gala will be held on Septemner 11 at the Safari Park Hotel where players, coaches, referees, team managers and scribes will be feted for their performance through out the league.
