An aggressive half-century from Dhiren Gondaria powered hosts Kanbis Sports Club to an eight-wicket win over Swamibapa in a mouth watering Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association (NPCA) super league clash at Eastleigh High School on Sunday.

The victory saw Kanbis end Swamibapa’s unbeaten run this season.

The hosts crushed the Swamibapa bowling lineup with amazing spells from Pushpak Kerai (4 for 15), Emmanuel Bundi (2 for 17) and Nelson Odhiambo (2 for 11) and bundled them out for just 81.

Kanbis finished off the match easily with Gondaria leading from the front with his fifty.

Chasing 82 runs, the first two opening stands put on 28 before Gondaria and Odhiambo added on an unbeaten stand of 58 for the third wicket.

Swamibapa bowlers had no answers for Gondaria knock that included three sixes. Earlier, Emmanuel Bundi (2/17) and Nelson Odhiambo (2/11) were the architects of Swamibapa’s poor show with the bat by picking the first four wickets for 18 runs in the opening overs.

Pushkar Kerai later on cleaned up the middle order and the tail with 4 for 13. At Sir Ali Muslim Club, skipper Gurdeep Singh and Ahmad Hassan scored half tons as the home team beat defending champions Stray Lions by 76 runs.

Singh had 62 runs and Hassan managed 54.- Webster Nyandika
