Kangemi Ladies have made a massive step towards securing their place in next season’s Football Kenya Federation Women’s Premier League after beating Soccer Sisters 2-0 on Sunday to make it 10 wins in 10 matches.

The Joseph Orao-coached side now only needs one more victory or just two points from their remaining four games to be crowned women’s Division One, Zone A, champions and  gain an automatic promotion to the FKF Women Premier League next season.

Livewire Fasila Adhiambo and Hilda Kanze were on target against Soccer Sisters to take Kangemi’s lead to 30 points giving them a healthy eight points on top above second-placed Sunderland Samba who laboured to beat hosts Mukuru Talent 2-1 to collect their 22nd point of the season in 11 matches.

MTG United are third on 19 points after they lost 2-1 to Mombasa Olympic Queens on Saturday.

Limuru Starlets did themselves a huge favour after beating Msato Starlets 1-0 courtesy of Grace Machura’s lone goal to move out of the relegation zone and in the process push Msato to the bottom of the league.

Solasa Stima Queens, on the other hand, maintained their unbeaten run and Zone B despite dropping two valuable points against host Nyuki Starlets in a one-all draw played on Saturday.

Solasa who have played a match less, lead Zone B with 26 points from 10 matches, but this draw has, however, thrown the race wide open after Bunyore Starlets and Royal Starlets won big on Sunday to close in on Solasa’s lead in pursuit of the sole promotion ticket.

“The league has reached a crucial stage and we can’t afford to drop any point as we seek to earn automatic promotion to the premier league as Zone B-League champions,” Solasa Stima Queens coach Godfrey Ochieng told People Sport.

Susan Muhonja and Juliana Kaupe scored a goal apiece to give Bunyore a comfortable 2-0 win over Gusii Starlets to move them second with 25 points, while Royal Starlets humbled Vihiga Leeds 4-1.
