Sports Kenya has invited tenders for the proposed refurbishment of the Moi International Sports Complex in Kasarani, Nyayo National Stadium, and the Kipchoge Keino Stadium to CAF / FIFA standards.

According to a tender notice issued by Sports Kenya, the state body mandated to manage the stadiums, interested parties have up to August 17 to submit their tenders for the rehabilitation and upgrading of the said stadiums.

According to Sports Kenya, the three facilities have been earmarked to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations if the EAC Pamoja Bid of Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania is successful and its refurbishment of the said stadiums will hopefully make the bid a success.

Back in 2021 both the Moi Stadium, Kasarani, and Nyayo Stadium were barred from hosting international games with CAF Inspection Committee saying the two Kenyan facilities did not meet the required standard to stage FIFA and CAF-related matches including the World Cup/CAF qualifiers and club competitions.

The latest outcome comes days’ after Gor Mahia and Kakamega Homeboyz were forced to host their continental matches outside Kenya due to lack of approved facilities within the country.
