KCB RFC hammered the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA) 59-16 to extend its unbeaten streak in the Kenya Cup League at the KCB Sports Club, Ruaraka.

The Bankers made their intentions known right from the onset recording three tries in the first half that were all converted by Utility Back Darwin Mukidza to give KCB a commanding 28-9 lead at the break.

KCB coach Mariko Mushilla that earlier saw off the bank beat CUEA B 75-3 in the Eric Shirley Shield (ESS) league lauded the team for winning the match against the varsity lads who posted a lot of problems to the league leaders.

“We always take every game at a time and today’s win was another reward to our team for always playing to our philosophy, well-thought-out strategies, and the game plan we hold on to.

“I am proud of both of our teams in the Kenya Cup and ESS for being top and for their concerted efforts to win every game regardless of their opponent,” said Mushilla.

KCB added five tries in the second half to stretch the lead to 59-16 away from Monk’s reach and earn a bonus point. The away team try was scored by Victor Omupere .

who caught the bankers off-guard and flew over the white line.

Former Shujaa Captain Andrew Amonde who is also a member of the KCB Technical Bench said: “Today we tried to see the players who could play this type of match and I must say everyone proved why they were in the starting line-up. We know the huge challenge that awaits us in the coming matches but as a team, we are ready for all of them.”

“We are looking at the bigger picture which is to reclaim our glory as Kenya Cup champions.”

The team will travel to Nakuru on February 11th, 2023, in their next Kenya Cup encounter to face Menengai Oilers.
