Police FC made a statement of intent in  the FKF Premier League standings with a convincing 4-0 win over basement club Vihiga Bullets in Ruaraka yesterday.

This was the second highest winning margin of the season after the 6-0 blanking of Mathare United by Kariobangi Sharks on October 30, 2021.

Former Gor Mahia star Cliffton Miheso, a regular scorer for Police, helped himself to a double with Harambee Stars creative midfielder Duke Abuya and Clinton Kinanga scoring the rest of the goals.

Police have now gone five matches without defeat having last tasted the same on December 4, 2021 in a 2-0 slump to Sofapaka.

However, the shocker came in the form of three teams including Kakamega Homeboyz, Ulinzi Stars and Sofapaka suffering defeats at home.

At Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega, newcomers FC Talanta defied odds by beating Homeboyz 2-0, Edwin Lavatsa scoring the lone goal in the 17th minute.

Elsewhere at Nakuru ASK Showground, former Nzoia Sugar wonder boy Patrick Otieno’s strike in the 13th minute to earn Kariobangi Sharks a hard fought 1-0 win over Ulinzi.

Bogey team

At Dawson Mwanyumba Stadium in Wundanyi, Bandari needed Dennis Chetambe’s goal in the 85th minute to put the game beyond the reach of Sofapaka.

In Kasarani, KCB beat Mathare by a similar margin and as a result dislodged Homeboyz from the top of the standings. Derrick Otanga scored in the 76th minute.

Today, the country’s big guns Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards face what appear to be tricky tests as they seek to haul themselves up from odd places in the chart.

Placed seventh in the chart before yesterday’s four-match programme with a haul of 18 points, Gor shall test their former bogey side Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma.

On the other hand, Leopards, who occupy the 14th slot with 10 points, will be at Nyayo National Stadium to entertain high-riding Nairobi City Stars.

Gor and Leopards will be playing the fixture on the back of contrasting fortunes in their latest fixtures before the turn of the New Year.

While K’ogalo are smarting from a 2-1 defeat at the hands of City Stars and will be intent on venting their anger on Nzoia at the sugar belt, Ingwe will be facing Ciit Stars with the inspiration of forcing favourites Kakamega Homeboyz to a two-all draw.

Last week, Nzoia  played exquisitely against early front-runners KCB and ultimately forced them to a 2-2 draw.

In Ruaraka, Tusker will welcome Bidco United as Wazito and Posta Rangers cross swords in Kasarani.
