KCB FC head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno and Tusker’s Robert Matano are among the nominees for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) coach of the year award.

The awards gala that will be held at Safari Park Hotel on Tuesday, will see league players and officials feted in different categories with lucrative prices.

Zico has had a memorable season with KCB, steering them to a runners-up position in the history of the club and they missed their maiden league title by a whisker after the campaign went to the wire.

He guided the Bankers to amassing 62 points from 32 matches, only conceeding 23 goals in the process.

Matano on the other hand steered the Brewers to the league title after wrestling it from Gor Mahia.

Other nominees for the award are Bandari’s Andre Cassambungo, Kariobangi Sharks’ William Muluya, Patrick Aussems of AFC Leopards and Mathare United’s Frank Ouna who since moved to Tanzania.

Meanwhile, Kariobangi Sharks, KCB, Tusker and Posta Rangers are in contention for the Special Fair Play Award.

Sharks only received a single red card in the entire season with 45 cautions, while KCB had two red cards with 41 yellow cards.

League champions Tusker had 48 cautions with a single red card and Posta Rangers had three red cards with 40 yellow cards.

Each category winner during the awards will pocket Sh300,000, with the runner-up earning Sh200,000 and third placed getting Sh100,000.
