KCB rugby club assistant coach Dennis Mwanja is upbeat about his boys’ win when they host Blak Blad RFC in the Enterprise Cup quarterfinals this Saturday at Ruaraka Sports Club.

The Kenya Cup finalists were handed a walkover to the quarters last weekend after their opponents Western Bulls failed to turn up for the fixture.

Speaking during yesterday’s training session, Mwanja noted that the boys are eager to rise from the Kenya Cup disappointment and fight for the top slot.

“We haven’t played in a while occasioned by the walkover but we are currently working on our fitness level to ensure we scoop maximum point from the match,” Mwanja noted.

Last year, the Bankers lost 9-6 to Kabras RFC in the Enterprise Cup finals in an exhilarating encounter at RFUEA grounds that saw Kabras secure a double in the same campaign.

“Last year we slipped a little bit and our opponents capitalised on our mistakes to deny us the trophy. This time round the boys are getting charged up and it’s our greatest desire to bring that trophy home,” the coach added.

KCB will miss the services of Elvis Olukusi, Griffin Musila, T.J Okidia, Samuel Asati, Brian Wahinya, Jacob Ojee, Peter Kilonzo and Darwin Mukidza who have been called up to the national team for the Currie Cup Competition starting early next  month.
