The fourth round of the Kenya Cup fulfilled the fans’ thirst for grit and action when only three sides remained unbeaten whilst the Ngong Road duo of Homeboyz and Nondescripts rose to the occasion to claim first wins.

Defending champions KCB, however, did not play after their fixture was called off due to reported positive coronavirus cases among players thus only five fixtures were honoured.

The highly anticipated thriller between KCB and Mwamba was set to kick off the day at 1 pm in a doubleheader at RFUEA grounds but returning lab results forced KRU to indefinitely postpone the match due to health and safety protocols.

The postponement was the last thing KCB wanted to hear as they now have two matches to play before the scheduled February 26, 2022 playoffs where only the top four will contest for the title.

The Bankers’ first postponed match was a fortnight ago against Blak Blad to leave the side with two wins that place coach Curtis Olago’s side at position five with nine points to remain unbeaten alongside Kabras and Menengai Oilers.

The two other unbeaten sides have so far won all their four fixtures with an impressive bonus in each to tie at the top with 20 points with Kabras placed first while Oilers climbed a place to sit second after a round that noted no major changes in the top six other than Strathmore and Menengai Oilers trading third and fourth places.

Strathmore Leos dropped a place to sit third while Kenya Harlequin remained fourth on the log.

Homeboyz ended Harlequin unbeaten run in the Ngong Road Derby with a 23-12 win at the RFUEA grounds while Nondescripts shocked Strathmore Leos with a 24-15 beating to register first seasonal win alongside the Deejays.

Impala Saracens and Mwamba are the only two sides that will head to the first break without tasting a win after a tough round where all four losers failed to grab a precious losing bonus point while on the other hand Blak Blad and Nakuru shared the four points after a 10-10 stalemate at the Nakuru Athletics Club.

Exciting fixtures

The league is set to resume on January 8 with exciting fixtures where the winless two sides will visit raging KCB and Blak Blad with a varsity derby between Strathmore and MMUST set to thrill at Madaraka grounds.

Kenya Harlequin on the other hand will travel to play Menengai Oilers away as Homeboyz host Nakuru at Jamhuri showground. Thika Road duo of KCB and Blak Blad will host Mwamba and Impala Saracens respectively.
