Kenya Cup rugby league saw a trio of former champions Kabras Sugar, Menengai Oilers and Strathmore Leos pick second successive bonus
wins to tie at 10 points in the standings that are largely been determined by points difference.

Total rugby was on display across matches that kicked off except for the Blak Blad vs KCB match where one of the try zones was rendered unsafe after an unfortunate turn of events.

Kakamega-based sides collected wins as one of the two Nakuru
clubs won while Nairobi teams, Strathmore and Kenya Harlequins, bagged wins to ensure they remained in the top four.

Menengai Oilers ended their winless jinx against Impala Sara- cens on away grounds courtesy of a 28-10 win, while MMUST claimed a rare 22-17 win over Homeboyz at MMUST grounds in Kakamega to register second upset after down- ing Nondies 24-15 in their league opener.

MMUST head coach Ochieng Ahaya claimed theWestern side has vowed the team will not be going back to the Championship league despite a series of tough incoming opponents where they will play a third successive Ngong Road side Kenya Harlequin at RFUEA this weekend.

“We are also involved in raising the stakes of rugby in this country
and we are not going back down,we are here to stay.We must respect Homeboyz for the rugby they dis- played. We believe they have
given us more crucial lessons and the game of rugby won.,” Ahaya told People Sports.

Menengai Oilers on the other broke a three-match losing streak to Impala by winning their fourth meeting off a 28-10 score to remain unbeaten and with ten points that tied the Nakuru-based side to log leader Kabras and second placed Strathmore Leos.

Kabras is still in the lead after managing two tries in each half to beat hosting Nakuru 31-3 and coach Jerome Muller is worried whether the errors committed by his side could land the side in trouble when they play Mwamba at home and Impala away to head to the Christmas break with the
league command.
