Kenya name squad for All-African Games 7s

The Kenya 7s second-string side Morans has been finalized for their squad for the upcoming All Africa Games in Accra, Ghana.

Five players who showcased their talent in the Challenger Series in Uruguay have earned their spots, including George Ooro who has been handed the captaincy role alongside Floyd Wabwire.

Elvis Olukusi, Chrissant Ojwang, Dennis Abukuse, and Benson Salem who helped Kenya 7s finish third in the Challenger Series have also been named in the squad.

Representing various clubs, the team features players like Steve Sikuta and Brian Mutugi from Mwamba, Brian Mutua and William Muhanji from Kabras, and Cornelius Mokoro from Kenya Harlequin and Austin Sikutwa from KCB Rugby.

Set in Pool A, Kenya will compete against hosts Ghana, Egypt, and a 16th-seeded team during the tournament scheduled from March 18 to 21 at the University of Ghana.

Preparations are in full swing as the team is currently undergoing a residential camp at the Moi International Sports Center – Kasarani.

The rugby sevens match will span across four days, forming part of the 13th edition of the All-Africa Games scheduled to be held in Accra, Ghana, from March 8 to 23, 2024.

Initially slated for August 4-19, 2023, the 13th All-Africa Games were postponed to 2024 due to various challenges.
