Kenya Sevens in Pool D ahead of Hong Kong 7s

Kenya Sevens have been drawn in Pool D in the World Rugby Hong Kong 7s Pools, which were revealed on Wednesday.

Shujaa are scheduled to face off with Argentina, Ireland and Canada in the group stage of the event scheduled for 4-6 November 2022 at the Hong Kong stadium.

Better performance

Damian McGrath's charges will be looking to better their performance as they head to this tournament which will kickstart the 2023 World 7s Series campaign.

Kenya head to the tournament without their annual pre-season tournament Safari 7s which was cancelled by Kenya Rugby Union.

Hong Kong 7s Pool A has World 7s Series champions Australia who will battle against New Zealand, Samoa and hosts Hong Kong.

South Africa who are set to start life after coach Neil Powell's exit will take on France, Great Britain and Uruguay in group B matches.

Uruguay will be starting off their reign as a core side in the World 7s Series, a status acquired after winning the Challenger series held in Chile in 2022.

Pool C consists of World Cup winners Fiji who are scheduled to take on USA, Spain and Japan.

Intense series

The 2023 Series will be intense from start to finish with the prize of Olympic Games Paris 2024 qualification on offer for the top four women’s and men’s teams in the 2023 Series standings.

The men’s Series will include a record-equalling 11 rounds, uniquely featuring two events in Hong Kong, which is set to host the first round on 4-6 November 2022.
