Kenya yet to name CAF Confederation Cup representative

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) is still exploring ways to name the country's representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup next season.

On Wednesday, FKF president Nick Mwendwa said the local governing body is still in dilemma following the directive by the government that suspended all sporting activites “leading to the cancellation of the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) as well as the FKF Cup due to the Covid-19 pandemic.”

''Remember, the FKF Cup is traditionally used to select Kenya's emissaries to the continental event but it ended prematurely.

We are yet to ascertain who shall carry the country's banner in the competition but that will hopefully be done in due course,'' said Mwendwa.

Kenya is among the countries which have yet to submit their CAF Confederation Cup representatives to Confederation of African Football and given that football in the country is not expected to resume any time soon, pundits foresee a situation in which FKF might pick Kakamega Homeboyz by virtue of being placed second in the KPL by the time the league was halted.

Already, FKF have submitted Gor Mahia, the leading team in the league before it was halted, as the country's envoys to the CAF Champions League.
