The 10-km road race sponsored by the County government of Nyamira is scheduled for this Sunday and will start at Metamaywa junction on the Kisii-Sotik road and conclude at Nyakongo High School.

“Besides the main race, we shall have a 5km junior cross country event at the school because the juniors cannot run on the road.

We shall also have fun races for kids and the elderly,” Angwenyi said.

The last series event will be held at Sironga in Nyamira North on October 24 before paving way for the inaugural Nyamira Great Run on October 31.

Winners of the Masaba North 10 kilometers half marathon race will pocket Sh250,000, with the first runner’s up taking home Sh175,000 and third-placed getting Sh150,000 while the first local athlete to cross the finish line will receive Sh100,000 with second and third-place finishers getting Sh75,000 and Sh50,000 respectively.
