National Super League debutants Mara Sugar FC head into their third match of the season tomorrow with confidence as they welcome Silibwet Leon of Bomet at Awendo Green Stadium, and their coach, Steve Biko is upbeat about guiding his team to victory.
Mara who are yet to win a match in the league, have played two matches, sharing the spoils in both instances, a 0-0 draw against Shabana and a 1-1 tie against former premier league side Vihiga United. However, Biko is trusting the process, keeping the faith, and staying committed to solidifying the team’s ambitions of finishing among the top three teams in the league by end of the season.
“The team is very much focused and looking forward to bagging our first win of the season and on home soil. The confidence in our boys is growing, so I’m looking forward to scoring more goals on Saturday,” coach Steve Biko told People Sport.
He said they have learned a lot going by the first two draws, adding that as a coach, his biggest task is to instill more confidence in the players to believe in themselves and shake off the inferiority complex of being of newbies in the league.
“Despite being our first season in the NSL, but with the way we’ve started, I’m targeting a playoff berth at the end of the season.
