FKF Premier League round 27 to feature marquee Mashemeji Derby

The highly anticipated second leg of the Mashemeji derby for the 2023/24 season will take center stage in round 27 of the FKF Premier League.

Gor Mahia are gearing up to host their arch-rivals, AFC Leopards, on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Nyayo Stadium.

Mashemeji Derby first leg

In their previous encounter of the season, Gor Mahia secured a 2-0 victory over AFC Leopards at Kasarani Stadium, giving them the early advantage in this fiercely contested rivalry.

Heading into the derby, Gor Mahia sit comfortably at the top of the league standings with 54 points, while AFC Leopards currently occupy the 8th position with 38 points.

Despite their lower position, AFC Leopards have been in good form lately, winning 3 out of their last 6 matches, drawing 2, and losing just one.

Since their first encounter on May 5, 1968, AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia have maintained a fierce rivalry.

Both clubs boast impressive records in the league, with Gor Mahia securing the Kenyan Premier League title a record 20 times, while AFC Leopards have claimed 12 league titles of their own.

The highly anticipated derby is scheduled to kick off at 3:00 p.m and will be broadcasted.

Besides Mashemeji Derby

Meanwhile, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, Police Sacco Stadium will host a thrilling doubleheader. Kariobangi Sharks will take on Nzoia Sugar at 1:00 p.m, followed by Kenya Police facing off against Sofapaka at 4:00 p.m.

In addition to the derby, round 27 of the league features other exciting fixtures, including Shabana versus Kakamega Homeboyz at Homabay Stadium and Bandari versus KCB at Mbaraki Stadium.
