Kenya Police FC has been known for reserving their superlative for the so-called big-timers since they gained promotion to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League.

The “Afandes” surprised many not least themselves when they humiliated defending champions Tusker 3-0 last weekend but their resolve in their resurgence in the top-tier league will be put into scale this evening when they face a never-say-die Mathare United at Tusker Village in Ruaraka

Despite being placed at the basement, Mathare has proved that they are not weaklings in the top-tier league for a good measure and this fact is resonated in a shock 3-1 win over Bidco United at Ruaraka grounds on January 25.

But in as much as Mathare fell 5-1 to Kakamega Homeboyz a few days later, the previous statistics by their opponents should serve as food for thought for Police who ought to tread carefully in the same setting where the slum boys made Bidco feel less valuable in an almost three-star performance by the ‘slum boys’.

For Mathare, despite being an eventful season since they were readmitted into the league, they just don’t seem to be in the mood of being dragged into this relegation talk.

But nevertheless, newly-hired Police coach Francis Baraza has restored a measure of hope in the team and will be hoping that former AFC Leopards man Elvis “Machapo” Rupia, who struck a superb hat-trick against Tusker will rediscover his Mojo.

Mathare side has shipped in the second highest number of goals at 22 after FC Talanta who have soaked 23 thus far in the campaign and have sounded ware drums against Police

Mathare will be hoping that Curtis Wekesa, Donald Ange and David Otieno will click yet again just as they did against Bidco to bring Police down to earth.

In the meantime AFC Leopards who gallantly battled to a barren draw with sworn rivals Gor Mahia in a Mashemeji Derby at the weekend take the battle to their ‘half-brothers’ Vihiga Bullets at Nyayo National Stadium.
