Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga was on the scoresheet as Al Duhail lost 4-2 to Al-Wakrah in the Qatar All-Stars League opener played on Wednesday at Education City Stadium.

Olunga started at number nine and watched his team gain an early lead as Murad Naji put the ball into his own net following a low cross floated in by Lotfi Madjer after only 15 minutes of play.

The visitors had to wait until the 45th minute for the equalizer, which came from a corner kick and was headed in by Australian defender Trent Sainsbury. The teams headed to break tied at 1-1.

Five minutes into the second half, Al Duhail recovered the lead with a cross that Olunga headed in to make the score 2-1.

Al Duhail were then caught off guard on the counter, and their desperate attempts to clear the ball were futile, as their defender Yousef Aymen was dispossessed by Gelson Dala, who turned his markers inside out and scored a stunning goal in the 52nd minute.

In the 66th minute, Al Duhail conceded a penalty when the skipper Luiz Júnior committed a foul in the 18-yard box. Omid Ebrahimi stepped up and send the Al Duhail keeper the wrong side before netting the third goal for a 3-2 lead for the visitors.

Final Goal

Dala intercepted a pass in the Al Duhail backline and raced to score a goal that put the game beyond Al Duhail in the 90th minute.

Olunga will be looking to replicate his success from last season when he scored 24 goals in 20 games. His side will be back in action on Thursday where they will face Al Ahli.
