MX2 class riders: Bikers rev for Jamhuri racetrack action
Round Six of hard riding is expected tomorrow in the Kenya National Motocross Championships at the Jamhuri Race tracks.
Top riders in the MX2 class including Rolf Kihara, Kigen Kiplagat in MX125 and Neo Wahome in the MX85class will be out in the tracks trying to wow fans and also garner points.
This is the last meet before teams gather for preparations in readiness for the African Motocross Championships slated for Zambia later this month.
However, the involvement of Ugandan star rider Kylan Wekesa will be seen as a platform of brutal competition for the local boys.
The Ugandan teenager has been practising in Nairobi for a couple of days now to have a feel of the tracks. In the last run, he was a handful in the combined MX2/125 Class.
At the same time, with the season having three rounds to close, all eyes will be on podium finishes to pick the available 60 points for individual riders.
In the MX2 class currently, two riders are joint top with 237 points inside five rounds with the rivalry of Ethan Nyachae and Kigen Kiplagat clearly telling.
The pair have had close battles this year however the latter has more wins in the past races given the relative freshness of his wheels.
Single Point
Meanwhile in the MX 125 action will be between Dylan Mutahi and Christian Chege who is separated by a single point while they are a whopping Tai Wahome who is cruising with 295 points.
Tai has been sensational in this campaign so far has collected four wins on aggregate to prove his title credentials.
Nandi Kiplagat will be leading in the MX 85 class after amassing 252 points so far in five races. She is the only lady in the class and has so far been holding her own in a track that has boosted her style.
Thus far, the speedster has only Neo Wahome and Alex Kandie as realistic challengers albeit with over 40 points adrift.
Other exciting challenges are expected to be witnessed in the MX 65 class and MX 50 Class where Tanav Choda and Mathenge Kamundia respectively who are battling to close out the season in style.
However, the 50cc class is tight with Gisa Benzinge just trailing the overall leader by only 16 points.
Zawadi Nyachae is not far off with 204 points; therefore with four races to close the season, it could be anyone’s to lose. It is also imperative that most of the riders will also be keen to impress national team selectors.
