Kariobangi Sharks scrambled to pick up a point from their Football Kenya Federation Premier League match against Muhoroni Youth at Moi International Sports Complex on Sunday, October 22, 2023.

The Eastland side was staring at a third consecutive loss, but a late second-half goal ensured they avoided a defeat against a determined Muhoroni Youth as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

Chances, goals

Meanwhile, Muhoroni Youth came close to breaking the deadlock early in the game when Maxwell Odada launched a powerful strike, only for Bernard Jairo to make a stellar save and keep the game goalless.

Stanley Wilson, who recently received his Harambee Stars call-ups, had a chance to score a minute before the halftime break. He connected with Moses Shikanda's cross but ended up hitting the post.

As was the case with the first half, Muhoroni Youth looked more lively in the opening minutes of the second half, and their lively effort was rewarded when Collins Neto scored the opening goal in the 50th minute.

The scorer ensured he was in the right place when Charles Odero delivered a precise set piece that Sharks failed to deal with and clear, and the visitors consequently took the lead.

Sharks looked undeterred as they fought hard for an equalizer and almost got it, but Brian Otieno produced a volley that went wide from a good goalscoring position.

Muhoroni almost doubled their lead in the 75th minute, but Jairo again produced a superb save to deny Alex Onchwari from close range. Another chance for the visitors to score again came in the 79th minute when Kelvin Wesonga made his way into the Sharks' penalty area, but his shot hit the woodwork.

Sharks kept fighting as the clock ticked, and in the 80th minute, they found the equalizer that denied Muhoroni Youth a win in Nairobi.

Shabana vs City Stars

Meanwhile, Shabana and Nairobi City Stars shared points following a 2-2 draw at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay.

Samuel Kapen opened the score for City Stars in the fifth minute before Eugene Mukangula equalized for Shabana in the 17th minute.

Four minutes before the half-time break, Shabana took the lead, with Vincent Nyabuto finding the back of the net.

The visitors kept fighting, and in the 84th minute, they equalized courtesy of a goal scored by Vincent Owino.

Finally, Kakamega Homeboyz managed a 1-0 win over Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium courtesy of a goal scored by Moses Shummah.
