Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has weighed his thoughts on the current state of Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

According to Muthama the arrest of FKF president Nick Mwendwa is a quick fix that is against the constitution.

"The disbandment of FKF and subsequent arrest of President Nick Mwendwa by DCI is a quick fix that is against the law of the land," Muthama said.

Muthama further said it was illogical to chase him out of office given that the FKF boss has been there for far too long.

"It is illogical to arbitrary chase him away on trumped-up charges when he had been in office for a long time and there's no time,"

The former senator urged CS Amina to respect the rule of law in administrating her orders in the current FKF wrangles.

"Kenya is not a banana republic. We are in a sovereign Country governed through a Constitution and everyone must respect the rule of law," Muthama said

Embattled Mwendwa was yesterday arrested over alleged graft in the country's football governing body.

Mwendwa's arrest come a day after Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed disbanded the federation and formed a 15-member caretaker committee.

CS Amina on Thursday disbanded the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and she formed a caretaker committee to govern the country's football.

The CS said the committee with run Kenyan football for the next six months, and it will be chaired by retired Justice Aaron Ringera.

Other members of the committee include Hassan Haji, Elisha Kiplagat, Anthony Isayi, General Retired Moses Oyugi and Fatma Adan.

Mwendwa has since dismissed action taken by CS Amina to disband the soccer body as fake and baseless.

He said no court has found the FKF officials guilty of any offence and, therefore, they will not step aside.

The FKF boss cited MPs and governors who have been taken through court process because of corruption allegations before being barred from office.
