Mwendwa responds after CS Amina ordered probe into FKF accounts
Football Kenya federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has said he ready to adhere to the orders directed at him by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed to audit the federation accounts.
According to Mwendwa, the federation led by him shall comply with the said inspection as guided by the sports act and FIFA statues.
“Upon receipt of the requested information, the federation whilst remaining cognizant of the powers of the Cabinet Secretary for Sports as provided for under Article 52(1) of the sports act will comply with the said inspection by the sports act and FIFA statues,” Mwendwa said.
Mwendwa further said the federation remains wholly committed to the healthy development of football and will continue to undertake development activities during the said inspection period.

Mwendwa’s woes as president of Football Kenya Federation moved to another level on Friday after Sports CS Amina Mohamed ordered Sports Registrar to audit the Federation accounts.
CS Amina had directed the Sports Registrar to undertake inspection of Football Kenya Federation (FKF) “in accordance to the provisions of Sports Act 2013.”
Amina’s directive comes at a time Mwendwa is under immense pressure from football stakeholders, following Kenya’s embarrassing loss to Mali last week in World Cup qualifiers. (6-0 aggregate).
Embattled Mwendwa on Thursday also lost a case in the High Court, where he had sought to stop the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) from arresting him over alleged misappropriation of funds.
Mwendwa lost his bid to block the Directorate of Public Prosecutions and Directorate of Criminal Investigations from probing and arresting him for the misappropriation of federation of funds.
According to multiple sources, the government is concerned about suspected misappropriation of over KSh 10 million, which Amina has asked the sports registrar to audit and give a report.
According to the Auditor General’s report for 2018/19 had flagged KSh11 million paid to Mwendwa without proper documentation.
Mwendwa is also under the radar of investigators over alleged misappropriation of hundreds of millions of taxpayers’ money, including KSh 244 million given to the federation by the exchequer for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
He is also facing questions over KSh125 million paid to British firm – WTS Media Group – for an Outside Broadcasting equipment, which has allegedly never been delivered.
