Nairobi City Stars have received a boost with the return of midfielder Abuyeka Kubasu ahead of their upcoming away fixture against Bandari FC in Mombasa.

Kubasu's return comes after a three-month absence, having last played for the club on matchday seven in October 2023 against Shabana.

"After three months out, midfielder Abuyeka Kubasu is back in the Nairobi City Stars squad ahead of an away trip to face Bandari in Mbaraki on Saturday, February 10, 2024, starting at 3 p.m. He is one of two changes made to the squad that held Shabana to a 0-0 draw last weekend in Machakos," announced the club.

He joins Gilbert Abala, who returns after last featuring against FC Talanta in early January in Ruaraka. The two replace Newton Ochieng, who is suspended, and Brian Mzee, who has been rested.

Japanese forward Yuto Kusaba and left-footed Rogers Obusu Wasega, both of whom featured against Shabana, retain their places in the team.

In their eleventh encounter since 2008, Bandari will host Nairobi City Stars in the Kenyan topflight, this time in a matchday 21 tie at Mbaraki Sports grounds.

From the previous ten games, Bandari have won four, including a controversial 2-1 win in the last encounter at the same venue on January 29, 2023.

City Stars have registered two wins – the last one back in 2016 – with the other four ending in draws.

From the last ten encounters, Bandari have outscored City Stars 14 to 12 goals.

Ahead of the upcoming game, Bandari secured a 3-2 away win over Muranga Seal, while Simba Wa Nairobi settled for a 0-0 draw against Shabana.

Table-wise, Bandari and City Stars are both on 34 points from 20 games, with the former ahead at third and the latter in fourth, due to goal difference.

Kenyan legends will be on either side on the touchline: John Baraza as coach of Bandari and Nicholas Muyoti for City Stars.
