National volleyball: Bitok looks forw*rd to Cameroon clash in Rabat
National volleyball team ‘Malkia Strikers’ head coach Paul Bitok looks forward to playing Cameroon again in the ongoing African Games, if Kenya is to defend their crown.
The Bitok-coached side beat the African champions 3-1 on Saturday in a Pool B match.
His team plays Senegal today says the chances of the two sides meeting later in the tournament are high.
“I am not underrating any team in the games, by just being here, it means the teams deserve it. But going on experience I think Cameroon again will be tough match,” said Bitok.
“We have to play well in our next match knowing well a victory will send us to the semi final top of the group,” added Bitok.
On Saturday Kenya defeated Cameroon 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 25-17) to send a statement of intent to the team that defeated them 3-2 defeat during the Women African Nations Cup held in Cairo, Egypt last month.
“I think we played well generally, besides the third set that was not convincing at the reception and blocking level, I am happy with the manner the girls played,” said the former Kenyan international.
Cameroon have now concluded their group stage matches having beaten Senegal 3-0 in their opening match on Thursday as Algeria, another Pool B team having pulled out of the tournament.
Kenya will take on Senegal on Monday with a win taking them to the semis at the top ranked side from Pool B and where they will meet runners up from Pool A.
