The legendary Awendo Green Stadium this Sunday plays hosts to an exciting duel between two neighbors as the National Super League action enters Round 8 this weekend.

Mara Sugar FC and Migori Youth FC will lock horns in familiar territory as the early league pace setters test each other. In their last two meetings, the teams have shared spoils 1-1 with the Migori winning the first leg 1-0 in March last year before the sugar-men recovered spectacularly in the second leg to win 4-0 in July.

Migori Youth who are currently fifth on the log have eight points off four matches while Mara on the other and are seventh in the standings with a similar number of points off five matches played. The game might then, based on recent fortunes,go either way but nonetheless, an explosive affair is anticipated in Awendo even as home advantage seems to suit Migori Youth.

Meanwhile, in another thriller, high flying league leaders Shabana FC travel to uncertainty in Nairobi as they play third placed Naivas FC. Tore Bobe who are currently the form team with four wins in five matches, have 16 points in the bag off six matches played and are yet to taste defeat in this campaign. The retail outfit Wednesday this week squeezed a goalless draw against recent previous table-toppers Kibera Black Stars FC. However the giant retailers who have 10 points in five matches played will have to deal with the ruthless Shabana who have netted nine times and conceded none including their 5-0 drubbing of Mwatate United at midweek.

Elsewhere, lowly Mombasa Elite FC who has lost four times in the past five matches host 11th placed Mully Children’s Family FC who are just coming off a convincing 3-0 win over SS Assad. The match will be played at Mbaraki Grounds, and will offer a chance for the Charles Okwemba charges who lost 3-1 against Darajani Gogo on Wednesday to regroup and hunt for their first win of the campaign. In the last four meetings incidentally, Elite has won twice, lost once and one game ended in a goalless tie. In other matches lined up at the weekend, sixth placed Muranga Seal travel to Ukunda in Kwale County for a tie with 10th placed SS Assad FC in the game slated for Shamu Grounds. Meanwhile, strugglers Silibwet Leons FC in 17th place host 12th placed inconsistent Lakeside team Kisumu All-Stars FC at Bomet Stadium. Both teams lost in midweek and will need to get their groove back in what is a fast changing league table.
