NOC-K, basketball federation team up to boost 3×3 national team

National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) and the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) has announced the formation of the Kenya 3 by 3 national basketball teams (male and female categories) on Monday.
The partnership between NOC-K and KBF aims to ensure seamless collaboration and effective teamwork as the netball teams prepare for their debut appearances at the Africa Beach Games in Tunisia in June and the World Beach Games in 2023. Following the international tourneys will be the highly anticipated Paris Olympics in 2024.
Present during the announcement were the officials including Secretary-General Francis Mutuku, Eliud Kariuki (treasurer), and his deputy John Ogolla. The athlete’s commission, represented by Kenya’s legendary figures like Humphrey Kayange and Gilly Okumu, guaranteed the players that their needs would be prioritized. They went on to encourage that there should be open communication throughout, assuring the athletes that any queries or concerns would be addressed without hesitation.
“The Kenya 3 by 3 teams will not only participate but also compete fiercely in the forthcoming competitions,” NOC-K said in a statement to newsrooms.
Otula, the chairman of KBF, thanked NOC-K for their invaluable partnership and called on the selected players to give their utmost dedication. He emphasized the significance of improving their ranking points in basketball, underscoring its importance in this dynamic sport.
Margaret, a representative of the team, described the moment as a new dawn, highlighting the rising prominence of sprints and team sports in Kenya’s journey toward the Olympics. Her statement encapsulated the collective optimism and enthusiasm surrounding athletics and team sports as they strive for excellence at the global level. In response to the announcement, athlete David Gichuhe shared his heartfelt excitement too.
