Kenyan midfielder Richard Odada has agreed to part ways with Danish division one side AaB Fodbold.

Odada who is on loan from Major League Soccer side Philadelphia Union will leave the club after his loan expiry at the end of the season according to the club’s official website.

The club also highlighted the midfielders’ role, together with Ghanaian Emmanuel Toku who returns to Belgian Side Oud-Heverlee, in their promotion to the top Danish division.

“Richard and Emmanuel have each contributed to the team and our promotion, for which they should receive a big thank you. However, in both cases, we have agreed to retire after the season, and both Richard and Emmanuel are wished all the best in their respective careers,” said Ole Jan Kappmeier, AaB's Sports Director.

Odada will link up with Harambee Stars in Malawi ahead of their World Cup Qualifiers against Burundi and African Champions Ivory Coast. The central midfielder played in 22 official games and scored four times for AaB.

Odada confirms departure

Confirming his departure on his social media accounts, Odada thanked the club in his farewell message.

The 23-year-old began his playing career with Lasier Hill Academy before joining Kenyan Premier League club AFC Leopards in July 2018. He would then move to Red Star Belgrade U19s after successful trials.

The midfielder would then spend the better parts of 2019-2022 on loan to Serbian First League club Grafičar Beograd and Metalac. He would then make a switch to MLS club Philadelphia Union on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

It is from Philadelphia that Odada joined the newly relegated Danish First Division club AaB on a one-year loan deal with a purchase option.
