Olunga’s academy overcome St Joseph in FKF Division One league action

The Michael Olunga Football Academy FC (MOFA) FC easily beat St. Joseph FC as the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division One Zone B entered its 14th round at the weekend.

MOFA held on a second-half own goal by St Joseph’s Alfred Momanyi in the 67th minute to claim a vital 1-0 away victory at the Afraha grounds in Nakuru. MOFA is now 10th on the log tied with St Joseph on seven points after the victory. MOFA who have played ten, matches, two more than St Joseph are all set to fight for a top ten finish in the league as their southern to promotion into the National Super League continues to gain momentum.

A fortnight ago, MOFA sealed partnerships with school games football giants Agoro Sare School in Homabay County and St Mary’s School Yala in Siaya County, and Kisumu Day in Kisumu County as a first move towards more such partnerships with other schools.

The schools will offer educational scholarships to students from the football academy to pursue their education as they continue to hone their skills at football.

In another FKF division, one zone B match was played yesterday, second-placed Sigalagala beat Transfoc 1-0 to tie on 17 points with league leaders Green commandos.  Bottom-placed Bungoma Superstars’ poor run continued as they saw stars losing by a goal to nil at the hands of visiting Nyota FC. Nyota scored through Waswa John (in the 14th minute to pile more misery on the Bungoma outfit.

In the FKF division one zone B matches, Rainbow FC lost 2-1 to 3K FC at the MYSA grounds in Nairobi. Rainbow scored courtesy of Ogam Ryan in added time after 3K had scored two courtesy of Ondabu Vincent in the 38th minute and Mwenda Phineas in the 45th minute. Dandora Youth was held to a goalless draw by Buruburu sports.
