Local racing stars have stepped up their preparations ahead of next month’s Super Bike Circuitß∑ event in South Africa at the Redstar Race Way in Delmas, Johannesburg.

According to The Super Bike Association of Kenya (TSA) chairman David Karuri, they have already selected a team of 10 bikers to represent the country at the high profile event and embarked on serious training as they plan to make an impact at the November 30 event.

“The team of 10 is made up of the best bikers we have in the country because was picked on merit.

We picked the top three in every Super Bike class and also looked at their accumulative times and I also happen to be in the team because of current form,” said Karuri who is nicknamed ‘Bladedoc’.

The 10 are made up of eight male bikers and two female bikers.

They include Karuri who will be riding a Honda CBR1000RR 2008, last year local champion Moses Njathi who will be riding Kawasaki ZX6R 2010 model, Mohammed Ali (Husqvarna 501), Shaiman Mughal (Yamaha R1M, 2018), Amina Reeve (Yamaha R25, 2016), Ian Osome (Suzuki GSR 600 2007 model),

“We have an event at the Whistling Moran Circuit in Athi River on Saturday (tomorrow), though it is part of our five rounds East Africa SuperBike Championships, the team will also use it to polish skills,” said Karuri.

TSA, the umbrella body for super bikers in the country, has more than 180-speed merchants who keep in touch and organize their activities.

In March, eight of them financed themselves to South Africa for a first-ever proper track racing experience and they did not disappoint, turning heads with their good performances which included a podium finish in Redstar Raceway in Delmas, where they will be returning in November.
