Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Polie FC are optimistic after appointing Zdravko Logarusic as their new head coach.

Police, who finished third last season, are yet to register a victory this season and are 15th going into the fifth week of the season.

Bidco United test

They will host Bidco United, who are seventh, and this may prove to be a decisive game for both the club and the new man in charge.

Bidco United are expected to give the home side a testing match given that they have yet to lose a game this season.

As Logarusic starts his reign at his new club, there are expectations that he will help them turn things around. The club's chairman, Nyale Munga, is hopeful that Logarusic will steer their team to new levels of success.

“We are pleased with the arrival of our new head coach, popularly known as Loga.

“Loga is a tactician of the highest repute in this world. He is known all over; he has been here before, and he has been in the Middle East. We hope that he is going to rejuvenate our team. He is a very good coach,” Munga said in a statement.

Logarusic, 57, said he knows why the Kenyan team reached out to him and that he is ready to deliver.

“Police FC called me. I know why they called me, and I have to do what I have to do.

“Let's do the job. I have to prepare myself for training directly. Thank you so much. God bless you all, and let us go for good results," the Croatian said when he was confirmed as the new tactician.

Technical changes

Meanwhile, Police FC are the first Premier League team to make changes in their technical unit following a poor season start. With four games already played, the Law Enforcers have yet to register a win, and that has cost Francis Baraza his coaching job.

Baraza was first sent on leave before the club, after a few days, confirmed they made the changes that brought the former Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards coach to take charge.

The new changes only affected Baraza, with Salim Babu, who arrived before the 2023/24 season began, being left to continue with his role as an assistant coach.

“It's official: Zdravko Logarusic has completed his move to Police FC as the head coach. The tactician, along with his assistant coach, Salim, will steer the team toward its vision. Welcome home, coach," Police statement said.

The coach has extensive experience as he has coached a number of clubs in Africa and Asia. In Africa, Ashanti Gold, King Faisal Babes, and Asante Kotoko, all from Ghana; Simba SC of Tanzania; and Interclube of Angola are the clubs he has managed before.

He has also been in charge of the Zimbabwe and Sudan national teams, and before his Kenya Police appointment, he was in Saudi Arabia guiding Al Batin.
