Kenya Cup action back after festivities
Kenya Cup resumes with six fixtures lined up to grace the 10th round in highlighted playoffs berth pairings.
Nakuru Athletic Club (NAC) host Wanyore currently positioned fifth with 25 points and will need to collect at least a losing bonus from Kabras to protect their top-six place.
Kabras on the other hand topping the log with 40 points and 15 above Nakuru will dig deep in search of a bonus win to protect their position and remain on top with just six rounds left after this weekend.
The fixture will also test Kabras squad being one of the four Cup sides that have not done mid-season signings portraying trust in their current team that has only conceded the least tries despite losing to Homeboyz in round eight to crush their unbeaten record at Impala grounds.
Menengai Oilers will savour additional players on loan and full transfers from Nakuru and Impala when Oilers host Mwamba at the Moi Showground.
Oilers occupy position six which is the last entry into the playoffs slated for Match 14.
Mwamba is tied with Oilers at 24 points thus the match will be a tie breaker to determine a pending top-six placings update.
The next two crucial fixtures will be in Nairobi highlighted by Ngong Road rivals featuring third-placed Homeboyz and fourth placed Impala separated by four points.
The Sarries will need to win to level or win by a bonus to return to third place but the Deejayz current form bolstered by the return of Kenya Simbas duo of Joshua Chisanga and Emmanuel Mavala returning from international club rugby will inspire Homeboyz to their eighth win.
The other entertaining fixture will feature Kenya Harlequins and Kisumu at RFUEA Grounds where the underdogs and bottom placed Kisumu will hope to register the weekend’s upset while the hosts need a win to shoot them up from the 10th position to a possible eight.
Quins is coming off a 17-21 win over Blak Blad on December 21 and will need a third seasonal win to inspire them to get them back into the race for playoffs in check with last season where they reached cup semis but lost to KCB.
Eighth placed Nondies will be at the Bull Ring, Kakamega where the Red Lion will meet Echulusi. Playing at their home ground lastly saw Bulls beat Mwamba 15-5 to caution other Kenya Cup sides but Nondies will be looking forward to enjoying a hard running backline bolstered by centre signing of Morris Murimi from Mean Machine.
Defending champions will then close the round with a race to beat Kabras command by hunting a bonus win off a home clash against second to last BlakBlad at home in Ruaraka.
