League resumes with exciting matches as favourites maintain status quo
Kenya Cup matches resumed with a bang over the weekend while on away mission Kabras Sugar shocked Nakuru 38-0, KCB at home whitewashed Blak Blad 81-10 while Homeboyz captured a rare 32-22 win over Impala to maintain the first three log positions after 10 rounds.
Kabras leads with 45 points, a point ahead of KCB and six ahead of Homeboyz.
Kabras win at the Nakuru Athletic Club was a fifth in-a-row over Wanyore at the venue achieved by six tries and four conversions.
Winger Jone Kubu bagged a brace while former dreaded Nakuru eighth man Lawrence Buyachi, Eugene Sifuna, Brian Tanga and Barry Robinson completed the scorers list.
Kabras thus also remained as the team with the best defensive play having just conceded six tries - two a piece against Nondies, Homeboyz and Menengai Oilers respectively.
Apart from the three, not even the defending champions while playing at home in the sixth round crossed over the chalk for a solitary try to leave Kabras coach Henley Du Plessis working on the execution.
KCB on the other hand kick-started with the second highest winning score of the season behind Kabras 89-0 season opener win over Kisumu after blowing away BlakBlad 81-10.

KCB scrum half Samuel Asati and flanker Martin Owila scored a brace each and the further nine tries were courtesy of Brian Omondi, Oliver Mangeni, Michael Wanjala, Curtis Lilako, Felix Ojoo, George Maranga, Mike Kimwele and Kenya sevens internationals duo of Andrew Amonde and Johnstone Olindi contributed to two tries.
Eight conversions boosted their score by 16 points courtesy of Darwin Mukidza (5) and Levy Amunga (3).
The impact clash and the highlight of Nairobi played at Jamhuri show ground had Homeboyz emerge 32-22 winners over Impala Saracens in the Ngong Road derby.
The Deejayz scored through Bob Muhati (2), Alvin Otieno, Stanley Isogol and Bush Mwale.
Conquer rivals
Homeboyz coach Jason Hector termed the win as the best way to start the year heading to a countdown of the last rounds to the Playoffs where the Deejayz hope to conquer rivals for their first Kenya cup title.
“This is the way to start a year as we turn to a countdown that will put us in a crucial contention for the title. Impala was a good opponent and they challenged us in the major departments for important lessons as we await to play Nondies next,” Homeboyz coach Jason Hector told People Sport.
Impala thus remained fourth with 30 points, just one above playoffs-hungry Menengai Oilers who downed Mwamba 30-14 at the Moi show ground, Nakuru county.
