Nakuru roll over Menengai in Kenya Cup weekend action

Three derbies highlighted the weekend Kenya Cup league with a 19-17 revenge win by Nakuru over Menengai Oilers in Nakuru highlighting the action and Homeboyz downing Harlequins 48-3 at RFUEA Grounds to complete a double.
In another Ngong Road derby, Impala beat Nondescripts 28-18 in the other Ngong with the legendary league shaping up for an interesting finish.
Nakuru’s home win was a redemption for pride that wrote off a hurtful league opener round that saw Oilers claim a first and a shocking 31-5 win over Wanyore.
The revenge has handed Wanyore a better reprieve that enforced trading places with Oilers to have Nakuru now at fifth place with 33 points, two ahead of Oilers who despite the loss, picked a crucial losing bonus for the second in a row to remain two points ahead of seventh-placed Mwamba.
Meanwhile, the league current top two-cum-last season cup finalists Kabras Sugar and KCB fancied away bonus wins over relegation threatened Western Bulls and Kisumu.
Kabras and log leader now has 55 points off a 59-13 for a double that makes it an aggregate 148-13 against bottom side Kisumu at Kisumu Polytechnic grounds as KCB shoved Bulls to an away 29-8 win in Kakamega to remain second on log with 54points.
Despite the two losses for the relegation threatened sides, improvement was noted in how Bulls challenged the defending champions attack while Kisumu is now the fourth team alongside Homeboyz, Nondescripts and Menengai Oilers to score a try boosted by two penalties against Kabras off a 59-13 home loss.
KCB had on the first meeting that welcomed Bulls back to the league on home soil bruised the visitors 48-11 while Kabras ushered in Kisumu back with a shocking and still standing 89-0 score.
