Tanzanian left-back Lamela Maneno is one of the latest additions to FKF Premier League side Shabana FC during the ongoing midseason transfer window.

Maneno, formerly with Tanzanian Premier League side Singida Fountain Gate, was officially unveiled on Friday.

Shabana FC's more signings

Accompanying Maneno in the new signings is Mathew Tegisi, who joins from National Super League side Gusii FC.

Tegisi is expected to bolster the striking department of Shabana FC, which has struggled to score goals, managing only 15 in the 2023/24 campaign.

Brian Odhiambo Labille is another addition to Shabana FC, having signed from National Super League side Darajani Gogo FC.

The deep-lying midfielder is intended to strengthen the central midfield department, especially with potential departures, including Eugene Mukangula, who is rumoured to be considering a move away.

Shabana FC changes

Japhet Lihanda Mzungu, a talented attacking midfielder, has been acquired from National Super League side Rainbow FC, further adding depth and creativity to Shabana FC's midfield.

These new signings were unveiled shortly after the confirmation of Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo as the new head coach for Shabana FC.

Pamzo's appointment followed initial talks that had broken down, leading the club to consider other coaching options, including Nicholas Muyoti of Nairobi City Stars and Salim Babu of Kenya Police.

However, both Muyoti and Babu chose to remain with their current teams, paving the way for Pamzo's eventual appointment.

The coach and players are joining Shabana FC at a crucial time as the team aims to recover from a recent 1-0 loss to Muhoroni Youth.

The defeat allowed Muhoroni Youth to move out of the danger zone and secure the 12th position with three points from the victory.

Shabana FC, with only two wins in their last 11 matches, currently sits in 16th place with 14 points. The team has faced nine defeats in their opening 17 matches of the current campaign, managing only three wins and five draws. Shabana's defensive record includes conceding 24 goals, while their offensive efforts have resulted in 15 goals.
