Sonko visits boxer Conjestina, dispels social media rumours

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has dispelled rumours that legendary Kenyan female boxer Conjestina Achieng’ is dead.

Sonko’s sentiments come after he visited Achieng’ in Mombasa Women Empowerment Network Hospital in Miritini on Saturday to donate boxing equipment.

Rumours on social media platforms had it that the pugilist was dead. She had been admitted at the institution in early July after her health deteriorated.

Achieng fondly known as Conje was once a darling to many boxing fans during her heydays after a successful career. She, however, retired after being bogged down by mental illness and financial problems since 2011.
