Sprinter hungry for more after impressive run Saturday
Ferdinand Omanyala says coming second in 100m during the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi Saturday is the greatest performance of career so far.
Even with that, he says he will have to improve on his starts if he is to achieve more.
Translating his records to a global accolade now remains Omanyala’s top agenda going to the World Athletics Championships set for Eugene, Oregon, as well as the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, both next year.
We can achieve everything we set out to do,” Omanyala said. “It takes time, it takes patience, dedication, effort to get to this level.”
“I felt like I could go faster. I sprained my groin at the warm-up area so I wasn’t sure if I was going to run fast, but I am happy it behaved.
“There is still much much more to come from me.”
Omanyala said setting new African and Kenyan records will sink in days later.
“It’s a good thing and I thank God for it, it’s by God’s grace.”
Omanyala said closing the season on a high means a lot to him.
It will be my dream to translate my record to something more tangible - a world silverware,” he said.
