Rugby Super Series Outfits Lions and Cheetahs have paraded their squads for the final at the RFUEA on Saturday, May 24.

Cheetahs under the tutelage of Lawi Buyachi have seen seven changes to the squad that lost to Lions in Kakamega last weekend.

Francis Atiti and Desterious Ifedha return to the front row as props while Clinton Odhiambo and Elkeans Musonye, who also missed last weekend’s clash make a comeback in the backrow replacing Barry Opondo and Nelson Tengenye. Amos Obae and Felix Okoth continue their partnership at blind and open flanks.

Notably, the coach reinstates an experienced Samson Onsomu will lead the orchestra from scrum half. This signals Buyachi’s intent to control proceedings early on, the former Kenya XV scrum half showing he is the best in the business so far.

Denis Abukuse who played center will take charge of the right wing while Beldad Ogeta adds power to the left wing. Ogeta will be the go to man here, his hard running style is expected to cause all trouble for the Lions. Quinto Ongo and Tyson Maina make a comeback into the backline.

Lions have effected just one change to their starting backline from last weekend. Bob Muhati returns to partner Charles Tendwa in the midfield while Levy Amunga maintains his place at flyhalf, in a show of trust by head coach Oliver Mang’eni.

The forwards department remains unchanged, understandably so as the Lions looked their strongest last week against the Buffaloes.
