Red-hot Harambee Stars forward Michael Olunga is still hitting goals for fun with his 22nd of the campaign coming Sunday despite his Kashiwa Reysol side losing 2-3 away at Shonan Bellmare in the Japanese J1 League.
The result means that Kashiwa Reysol slipped to eighth on the standings with 37 points with the loss coming off two back-to-back wins.
Olunga’s goal was off a corner in the first half which he powerfully headed in after out jumping the entire defence.
Next week they face 10th placed Sanfrecce with the Kenyan international keen to build his goal tally.
Meanwhile in the Swedish Alsvenskan, Harambee Stars young centre back Joseph Okumu was involved for the entire 90 minutes as his IF Elfsborg side beat Kalmar FF 3-1.
The lanky 21-year-old has been a regular and held the defence firm in the win. With the win, the team from Boras now leaps to third in the log with 39 points off 24 matches.
Okumu’s national teammate Eric Ouma made his return to football after a long injury layoff picked in pre-season to help AIK beat IFK Goteborg 2-0 in the Swedish top flight. AIK are now 10th on the log with 30 points.
“I am glad to be back to help the team. The medics have been great and my teammates have been superb during the difficult period and I appreciate their support,” Ouma told the Swedish Media after the match.
In Finland, Harambee Stars goalkeeper Arnold Origi was out of sorts as his team HIFK conceded three goals with him between the posts against HJK on Sunday in the Finnish top flight.
This was the biggest scoreline against Origi since he joined the team last season.
